Going out in Tashkent

Post by steven »

http://caravanistan.com/uzbekistan/cent ... ngs-to-do/

We currently do not have the resources (nor the stomach) to research nightlife in Tashkent. I will use this first post to list some recurring favourites and will try to update openings/closures.

Your recommendations and observations are very welcome!

*******************************

Jazz Pub (Istikbol street 45a): cozy place with live jazz music.

Steam Bar (cnr Amir Timur - Niyozbek street): craft beer and burgers in a steampunk setting. Rock band in the evening.

Like bar (corner of Ahmad Donish - Yangi Shahar streets): pricier night club with face control and provincial music tastes.

CMI: pricier restaurant / night club with face control and live music (at least when we were there). Entrance was 50.000 Som / person (including a welcome drink), but that might vary depending on the weekday.

You can find some hints in these 2 articles: KtKomba and Fragment collective still going in 2019, Sila bar mentioned here seems to have gone quiet already.

In short, it is still very quiet in Tashkent.

A few beer recommendations.

Beerokrat, Shota Rustaveli Street. Craft beer place with some decent choices. Approximately 11000 som for 0.5l and also served food which I didn't try.

Random beer shop, Shota Rustaveli Street. A local beer filling shop, the type of which I have only seen in Georgia, and coincidentally located on a street named after a Georgian! This is just down the road, going back towards Oybek metro on the opposite side of the road to Beerokrat. Loads of choices of beer and you can drink inside as well as take away. Approximately 6000 som per 0.5l.

Irish Pub and Restaurant, Taras Shevchenko Street. Call me a snob but I tend to avoid places like this, however left pleasantly surprised. A selection of German themed beers, approximately 12000 som for 0.5l and a kitchen that was open late. The place was rammed with ex pats as well as dressed up locals enjoying the live music.
