Looking for something? We’re happy to help…
Visas and invitation letters
If you are in need of a visa or LOI, the visa page will satisfy you. If you have a question about your LOI application, contact the operator dealing with your application first. They are the ones able to help you best.
If you are interested in booking a tour, make your way to the tours page. All tours are customisable. Need something more tailored to your needs? Fill out the custom tours form here and we will help you on your way, or mail directly to [email protected]
Please note: we do not provide services for journalists and film crews. If you are a blogger, instagrammer, youtuber, photographer or journalist and want to get discounts or free tours, we apologize, but we cannot help you.
Have an update for us? Great – thank you so much for helping to improve the guide! You are welcome to post it on the forum, or send it in via e-mail if you do not feel like registering on the forum. The address is [email protected]avanistan.com.

Regarding questions via e-mail…
Questions regarding visas, tours, car rental, train tickets , …
Will not be answered if you write to Steven. Please write to the tour operator via the forms provided on the visa and invitation letter pages.
Travel questions – don’t use e-mail!
If you are an independent traveler with a question about travel on the Silk Road, please don’t e-mail me. Thousands of people come to this website every day, confused just like you, their questions unanswered. Maybe Steven can help? Perhaps I can. But don’t contact me via e-mail – it is simply too much workload and I cannot answer all questions this way. That is why I made this website.
Your e-mail will remain unanswered.
Use the forum instead
Post your question on the forum instead. I answer questions there, other Silk Road travelers add their wisdom, and your question thus becomes a helpful source of information for travelers present and future.
If you cannot access the forum, you are also welcome to contact me via e-mail: [email protected] (in case you did not read the above: I do not answer travel questions via e-mail. In case you did, sorry for the repetition, but some people just don’t get it).
Thank you for your understanding!!
