Re: Afghan Wakhan

I have been in contact with my Wakhi guide from the trip I took in 2018, Ibrahim Hamdard. He says that tourists are finally starting to trickle back in now, post Taliban take over. Apparently there are a couple of Americans there right now (with two Taliban armed escorts). He says that while the bo...

Hi
Where will you go after Syria and Iraq?
Turkey, Iran and Central Asia.
It seems to be very interesting. How long are you going to spend travelling? Me and my friend are looking for co-travelers
If everything goes well, my trip will be from Feb to September.

Syria and Iraq in Feb/March 2023

Hi,

I’m surveying the Silk Road in 2023. Syria and Iraq will be the first ones on this trip. I already contacted tour guides and plan itineraries. I’m looking for more travelers to join me to keep the cost down. Please PM me if you’re interested.

Regards,

Re: Planning to do the KKH this Fall; Giglig to Kashgar

I think China is very unlikely open their border this year. I’m planning to do the KKH next year (September) but I think next September is still very optimistic, given how they have responded to COVID’s cases. The good side is China has reduced to quarantine days from 14 days to 7 days plus 3 days a...

Hi there!

Does anyone have official information on when Turkmenistan will open? I see tours that start in October 2022
Following… I’m planning a trip there next summer. I emailed a Owadan, a Turk-based travel agency last month and they said Turkmenistan is not open yet.

Re: Iran Visa - Dual Nationality

I am not sure if we have had that case already. My guess is that it will be ok, since customs officers do need to respect the rules, and the rules say that Vietnamese passport holders can go in without problems and you are a Vietnamese passport holder. Hi Steve, My worst fear is they would suspect ...

Re: Dual citizenship for Iran Visa

Enter Iran on your Korean passport and make no mention of your US passport (if entering by land, this means you should probably enter the prior country on your Korean passport, too, in case they check stamps). As an American citizen you have the right to enter the US regardless of where you've been...

Special permit for Surxondaryo region

Hello,

I'm an U.S passport holder and planning to travel to Uzbekistan next summer, and Termez (Surxondaryo) is on my to-see list. Anyone here has traveled to this region and applied for the special permit?

Regards,
