This is all such a shame! My wife and I are currently in Georgia, hoping to travel through Central Asia by land, and then possibly into Russia. I though the Kazakhstan border was open but i've just read that it's not. Can anybody confirm? Is anybody considering going through Iran > Pakistan > India?...

So is the Kazakhstan border completely closed then? I was hoping to travel there from Azerbaijan via the Caspain Sea.

Sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds relatively easy to get a visa using a travel agency before travelling, which is what we will try do!
