Re: Georgia to Russia Border crossing (Zemo Larsi - Chertov Most)
Hi Mark, the route looks fine until Erzurum. After that it follows a very twisty and mountainous road, when there are other easier options. The easiest and shortest (time-wise) route to the Georgian border from Erzurum is via Kars and Ardahan or Kars and Cildir depending on which crossing you use. ...

That is great news. So far I had been unable to have that question answered. Great help, very much appreciated.
Thx,

Re: UK to the Sea of Japan
Steven,
Can you tell me what the quality of fuel is? I'll be driving a 4x4 pickup that uses diesel, but have heard that Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan uses a lower quality of fuel. I'm a little concerned as I don't want to break down in the middle of nowhere due to fuel issues!!
Many thanks.

Re: Georgia to Russia Border crossing (Zemo Larsi - Chertov Most)
Hi Mike, Thanks for the heads up and advice with regard to fuel and prices - very much appreciated. I have attached a pic below of my intended route through Turkey. I'm staying at a couple of campsites in the west, then as I get closer to the Georgian border I'll be wild camping. I'm intending to cr...

Re: Georgia to Russia Border crossing (Zemo Larsi - Chertov Most)
Hi Mark, I had a quick look at your website/blog. I live in Turkey and you will be fine driving through a large and beautiful country. Your biggest risk will always be other road users! I could not see clearly from the website map your intended route through Turkey. I am happy to offer advice/sugge...

Re: Georgia to Russia Border crossing (Zemo Larsi - Chertov Most)
I expect to drive through this border, with me dog, on or around the 3rd of June, so if nobody else has posted any updates before then, I will post to my blog on this website www.trekforkira.co.uk and/or my FB page www.facebook.com/trekforkira - just as long as comms are working

Re: UK to the Sea of Japan
The wife and I are doing a very similar route with the addition of white cliffs in Kazakhstan and the lakes of Kyrgyzstan, though we'll be in a Nissan Micra. I'm also curious about the Georgia/Russia border due to the FCO advising against travel. Hopefully world peace becomes a reality by May 1st. ...
