Re: Taskala (Russia - Kazakhstan) crossing: open Saturdays?

Do you know if this border is 24 hours. We have a limited transit visa which we just got in Uralsk (yay!!!!) and we were wandering if we could cross at 12:01am. So that we can make full use of the first day of transit.

Many thanks

It was called Hostel Sakura, and the owner was really really lovely, he is called El. Despite was lonely planet says abou...

Re: Uzbekistan new registration system from July 2018

Hiya, just to add our report, we didn't try the self-registration method, but we stayed 8 days and had 3 days of registration slips. There were NO problems leaving apart from the lengthy swatches of our campervan. The hotel owner we spoke to in Fergana says that he thought it was all becoming redund...

Hiya lharron, My wife (French) and I (English) are currently travelling in Kyrgyzstan. We left UK in May and travelled through Russia and Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Tomorrow we hope to cross into Uzbek. It has been an absolute joy to travel in a camper in these countries. Camping, mostly wild has be...

Re: Uzbekistan new registration system from July 2018

Hi All, Has anyone actually tried using the website mentioned by Rgarg; emehmon.uz. We are driving in our camper from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan hopefully in about 2 weeks. I totally agree with you Steven. Of course I dont mind paying any necessary fees. But we do love wildcamping in our van, it's par...

Re: Kazakhstan road updates

Hi Everyone, I have just driven in our 2wd campervan from Semey to Astana and it was pretty difficult. Semey to Pavlodar was a real nightmare. Took us ages and there are diversions that seem to go off for miles along dirt and forest tracks in the wrong direction. Very bumpy and dusty. After Pavlodar...

Hiya, we have the same question. Did your drive this route in the end. Can you tell us how it was and which route you took.
Thanks, Jamie

Karaganda to Kyzylorda road conditions?

Hi All,

Anyone know the current state of this road. On Google Maps it's down as the A17 and on this website it says it's partly a sandy track with plans for an upgrade. I would love to take his route but we're in a 2wd campervan. Otherwise I'll take the main road south to Almaty.
Thanks,
Jamie
