Re: Crossing Tibet entirely on foot (Kyrgyzstan to Kathmandu)

Hats off Benviatte ! Geopolitics are going to make your trek really complicated I am afraid. As far as I know one cannot make it to the Autonomous Region of Tibet without a guide. And you will be easily spotted if you try without one. Most people who have recently tried were caught and kicked out. I...

Re: Russian tourist visa in Tbilisi, Georgia

Hey, I also managed to pick up my 30 day tourist visa at the Tbilisi consulate last week. So I can confirm all of the above. It took a week ( 5 working days ) from the moment they accepted my application. Note that I had to book the full 30 nights in order to get the voucher. I cancelled afterwards....

Re: Iraqi Kurdistan - Turkey border crossing reports

I crossed into Iraqi Kurdistan one week ago using the Beshmakh border crossing ( Marivan to Slemani/Sulaymaniyah ). No major issues. I was given a free one month visa which seems to be the norm. Just had to purchase a compulsory insurance for IQD 5000. Lots of checkpoints everywhere but the soldiers...

Re: Russian tourist visa in Tbilisi, Georgia

Thanks for the info 2on2wheels. Let us know when/if you get it. I will most likely be applying for my Russian visa in Tblissi soon. A few more questions for you so that everything is clear : - Is the " voucher " what you get from the hotel/hostel after you make your booking ? Does that mea...

Applying a 2nd time for Turkmen transit visa ?

Hello there, Looking for first-hand advice here. Just been denied for my Turkmen transit visa ( French passport holder/Paris consulate ). No explanations. I am in Iran. Just wondering if I could make a second attempt here ( say at the Mashhad consulate ) or if this would just be wasting my time ? I ...

Re: Turkmen transit visa in Paris

Hi there,

I just got the answer from the Paris consulate, and it is NEGATIVE.
So I am stuck, as so many other travellers have been.
Wondering whether I could apply one more time here in Iran, whether in Mashhad or Tehran...
Thoughts ?

Iran visa extension in Khorramabad

Ok, I will.
I successfully got a one-month extension in Khorramabad, Lorestan, last fall. An out-of-the-way place too !

Iran visa extension in Birjand

Salaam,

Just wondering if it would be possible to extend my visa in Birjand, eastern Iran ?
It is a provincial capital, isn't it ?

Re: Iran e-visa system

Hello, Yes, it is very confusing... My own experience at the Paris consulate is this : I called them up beforehand and they told me that all I needed was to fill in the e-form on their website ( as said before their pixel requirements for both the picture and passport scans are hard to meet ) and ha...

Re: Turkmen transit visa in my own country

I do not recommend going to the border without a visa in your passport. But the Frankfurt consulate definitely gives you a visa as it says in the forum post. I have only heard Tashkent, Dushanbe and Vienna pulling that trick, and too many people have gotten stuck in no man's land for days for me to...
