As far as I know Russia is still a no-go for EU passport holders.
I've been trying to find at least some ray of hope for the summer, but failed.
Are there even talks ( within Russia ) of reopening in the next few weeks or months ?

Re: What have Tajikistan and Turkmenistan done right to completely avoid the Corona Virus illness?
Testing and non-reporting aside, I think it has to do with the fact that these 2 countries are less internationally linked to the outside world than their neigbors. Fewer cases because less businessmen and less tourists ( at least as far as Tajikistan is concerned, especially in the late winter when...

Re: Anyone Stuck?
It may be a " coronapanic "... or not. But there are facts, and you can't change them : borders are closed. And will most likely remain closed for quite some time. It is a personal view but I don't see them opening up soon, not even for this summer. Or if they do, there will be restrictions on EU/As...

Re: Coronavirus: when can we start traveling again?
Christian has some good points. I think it is going to take a LONG time before things get back to " normal " and the dust eventually clears. I hope I'll be proven wrong, but that's what I fear. The main issue in the long run for us who can afford to travel in economically undeveloped countries ( for...

Re: Coronavirus border closures
Hey Vikingbiking. I also started my ride 6 weeks ago from southern France. I made it as far as the Poland-Belarus border, then all hell broke loose. Borders closing everywhere, ahead of me and behind me. I decided to turn back on Saturday. Took a train back to the Poland-Germany border on Sunday. Ma...

Re: Coronavirus border closures
As of today Belarus is still " open ". Probably for fly-ins only ( Poland and Ukraine have shut their land borders ). I am in Poland and I was supposed to cross tomorrow but the likelihood of ending up stuck there ( they might also shut all international flights or borders soon ) had me cancel my cr...

Re: Corona virus border closures
I'd say that technically you haven't entered Spain if you don't go through customs and just stay in the transit zone.
You should be good to go in Russia.

Re: Corona virus border closures
Here's what I've found about Russia. As of March 5 all travelers coming from a list of countries where the virus has been spreading fast will be put in mandatory quarantine ( China, S. Korea, Japan, Italy, Iran, France, Germany, Norway, the US of A, Spain, Switzerland, among others ) when arriving a...

Re: Just back from a month in the Wakhan/Little Pamir
Oui Stephparis :-). It is a classic, along with all the other books the Michauds have written about Afghanistan & Asia. They are easily found and have been translated in English and various other languages. Another outstanding book about the Afhan Pamir & Wakhan came out in 2012. It's called " Pamir...
