Re: 150cc Motorcycles
a year and a half ago we bought 2 new Mustang Shinerays for about 680$ US in Khovd, and we bought the 200 cc to haul my heavy behind and my ridiculous 115l bag, food, 10l of gas, and food. They were outstanding, and only had to fix one flat (my fault for not monitoring the tire pressure and I got a ...

Re: Mongolia in 10 days... Is it worth?
Where are you from ? How much of a jet lag? What is your budget? Honestly, for 10 days, Mongolia might not be the best destination. Logistics, transportations, everything...takes time. I am going for roughly 30 days this September, (spent 2.5 months a year and a half ago), and I thing it's cutting i...

Re: Any cheap flight options to/from Ulaanbaatar
I used Skyscanner, and paid 877$ Canadian dollars for a flight Montreal-Beijing-UB and return between Aug 29th and Sept 23rd. TI don't know what you consider inexpensive, but the Beijing -UB part was 100$ (return) more . than the Montreal-Beijing (I checked because I was thinking of taking the train...

Re: Pakistan karakoram hiking as solo female traveler
My GF and I were solo travellers in Pakistan last year. We hiked without guides in Hunza, did the Nanga Parbat's base camp solo, in Karimabad, as well as a few places around Gilgit, Kalash Valley, and fairy valley. All in all, we had no issues being alone, besides having to fend off the ''mandatory'...

Re: Mongolia/ Gobi tours
If you are adventurous.... Last year my GF and I bought motorcycles in Khovd and drove to UB, following a zig-zag pattern that led us to the GOBI. for 3 months, we bought the motorcycles new and sold them at the end, and cost us around 250$ US per motorcycle. You could rent some through CHEKE tours ...

Re: Looking for English translator in Khovd
Update: Yesterday, with the help of a woman who served as a translator, we bought 2 new mustangs 200. We went to the police station first in order to make sure we could. They said that we can buy them, and resell them within 30 days without putting plates or registering them. We needed to make sure ...

Looking for English translator in Khovd
Hello.
We are in Khovd, and would need a Mongol or Kazakh to english translator to help us buy a motorcycle and go through the paperwork with us at the police station.
If anyone has any contact, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Jean-François

Camera store: need my DSLR cleaned in Almaty
Hi folks,
I'll be in Almaty tomorrow. My DSLR's sensor is hopelessly dirty.
Any shop recommendation for a good sensor and visor cleaning?
Thank you very much!
