local train services (e.g. in Kazakhstan) have resumed
Mhm - I just read that Kazakhstan is in the throes of a (second?) spike and is about to go into another lockdown.

Re: Coronavirus: when can we start traveling again?

I thought it might be interesting to revive this thread more than 3 months after its last post...? I wonder whether our predictions/expectations have changed? It currently looks as if some restricted level of tourism is slowly becoming feasible. Uzbekistan is luring tourists (on officially guided to...

Re: How / what are you doing?

Sitting at home like almost everybody else, teaching English Linguistics online rather than in the lecture theatre/seminar room. Regaining the weight I lost when we moved to the new home. ;-) And watering the new lawn. How am I? I really can't complain: I won't lose my job and I don't have to worry ...

Re: Coronavirus: when can we start traveling again?

Mhm - after some initial optimism, I now believe tourism will be severely affected for very a long time. How long? Until we have a vaccine that works. It'll be interesting to see how things develop in China, where new infections appear to have (at least officially) been virtually stopped. As long as...

Not that I know of... But at least you can look at some nice pictures of the train here: https://ady.az/en/gallery/more/375 ;-) This was published on 17 December: https://apa.az/en/infrastructure/Javid-Gurbanov:-%22Connecting-BTK-railway-with-Nakhchivan-requires-about-USD-2-bln.-investment%22-301167...

Re: Caravanistan improvements: suggestions?

Hi Steven,
the recently-updated pages link (https://caravanistan.com/recently-updated/) disappeared a while ago... Can I get my (almost) daily fix of what's new on your site in any way? ;-)
Thanks!

Re: Overstay Iran

Do you have check-in luggage? If yes, you probably won't be able to check in 4 hours before departure. Other than that, this plan *should* work since once you are past passport control, you are in transit and have effectively left the country. But I am no expert in this and have no personal experien...

Re: How to book online Van - Tehran tain?

There's a travel agency that's offering tickets online: https://www.ambertravel.com/turkey-iran ... riz-ticket - prices are obviously somewhat inflated.

Re: New Railway Baku-Tiblisi-Kars (Turkey)

Any update on this? I found this a while ago: https://jam-news.net/we-dont-leave-until-were-paid-workers-on-georgian-section-of-baku-tbilisi-kars-railroad-on-strike/ - there's also some interesting background information on the project and its impact (or lack thereof) on local communities. I'm going...
