Re: Denau-Tursunzade (UZ-TAJ) border crossing

Hi, I am hoping to cross this border from Tajik. to Uzbek. in a few days. I don't have the vaunted tajikistan immigration card, as none was provided upon entry. Reading all the posts in this thread, it seems that no one has ever actually had a problem, and there's been no mention of any Tajikistan i...

Re: Bishkek-Dushanbe by public transport

Hi Crazydre, Turning to the second part of your question, you are thinking Osh, Murghab and Khorog then Dushanbe. The Pamir highway route. It is well covered on Caravanistan, but if what you want is a real public transport route this may not be ideal. First, there is a permit (GBAO) required for thi...

Re: Dushanbe-moscow train to Beyneu

Thanks Crazydre, That's interesting. Actually, I went to the train station in Dushanbe yesterday, where they said no Uzbek visa is required, but Turkmenistan transit visa is definitely required, because the train stops there. However, I am sure you are right. Either way, it makes no difference to me...

Dushanbe-moscow train to Beyneu

Hi, Caravanistan website ("Train in Uzbekistan" page) states: "There are no trains from Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. The Moscow-Dushanbe train passes Uzbekistan, but does not stop anywhere. Even if it would, you would still need a Turkmen transit visa for it." Apolo...

Re: Bishkek-Dushanbe by public transport

Hi Crazydre, I am actually in the middle of doing this, Bishkek-Dushanbe. I'm in Jalalabad right now, trying to figure out the next step. Your first question was about public transport from bishkek to Osh. There are no buses. As far as I know, large buses are not allowed to cross the tunnel at the h...

Re: Uzbek transit visa. What does 1 day mean?

Thanks Steve, Steve: "One issue: if you are going Kaz - Uz - Kaz, I do not think you can get a transit visa" I'm in Almaty right now, but going first to Kyrgyzstan and then Tajikistan, where I'll apply in dushanbe for the transit visa via Uzbekistan back to Kazakhstan, so no problem. Thank...

Re: Uzbek transit visa. What does 1 day mean?

Hi, Thanks for that. Turkmenistan route to Caspian sea is now ruled out for this and other reasons, (eg: my inability to predict the Caspian ferry schedule out of Turkmenbasi combined with what caravanistan says about issues overstaying Turkmen visa). Better to go by aktau, Kazakhstan, with no visa ...

Uzbek transit visa. What does 1 day mean?

Hi, I am planning to apply in Dunshabe for a transit visa to cross Uzbekistan, either into Turkmenistan, or into Kazakhstan. Which way I choose to go largely depends on the answer to this question. Yes, I am aware that I must specify the route when making the application. The question I have is answ...
