Re: Getting Chinese visa with Turkish e-visa in place

A few months ago, Turkey officially recognized ETIM as a terrorist organization. The relationship between China and Turkey has since improved. China greatly simplified the procedures for Turkish citizens applying for Chinese visa in Turkey, so I don't think Turkish stamps on other passports are a pr...

Re: Turkmenistan Visa. No reply till entry day.

This happened to me. I applied a transit visa in Washington DC embassy last year, and got no reply after two months.
The consular said that it was rejected. The ministry apparently do not explicitly reject you. They simply do not reply. Brilliant!

Re: Turkmenistan transit visa refusals

My Turkmenistan Transit Visa got denied in Washington DC. :( I put Dashoguz to Serakhs and submitted all documents. They accepted my application, but after nearly one month, they said that they had not heard any feedback from Ashgabat. According to them, that was a sign of refusal. They said the rej...

Re: Security situation in Xinjiang - leave your thoughts

I think the reason you're seeing pushback is because of the impression that you were rationalizing the Chinese response as proportional to the threat of Uyghur terrorism and somehow in keeping with accepted Western standards. If you're simply saying that there is heightened scrutiny but that the ex...

Re: Security situation in Xinjiang - leave your thoughts

The thread is not about the security risk in Xinjiang, which is low. It is more about the oppressive regime and Apartheid system similar to that in Palestine - is it worth going through constant checks, interviews and questioning? Obviously, though, the repressive regime will increase the risk of t...

Re: Security situation in Xinjiang - leave your thoughts

In 1998 Hotan was only about 83% Uyghur, and I suspect this number has decreased somewhat since then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotan#Demographics That's a bit besides the point, though: I don't believe there have been "many" attacks in the past (certainly nowhere near the extent of in Israel),...

Re: Security situation in Xinjiang - leave your thoughts

Southwestern Xinjiang, Kashgar, Hotan and Aksu border Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Fergana Valley, and are dominantly Uygur, more than 90% in Kashgar and Hotan, more than 70% in Aksu. There were many attacks in the past and you would expect the same treatment as if you were roaming in Israel or Occ...

Tashkent to Kokand need Tajik Visa?

I plan to use train or shared taxi to visit Kokand from Tashkent.
Would I need a Tajik visa in any way?
