Kyrgyzstan roads first week November

Hello - am planning on driving (own 4WD) from Osh to Almaty over 5 days, in the first week of November. Is it possible to drive via Narin and lake Isik-Kol? Or has the snow set in? What are the alternatives - via Toktogul and Bishkek, over the 3184m Alabel pass? or detour through Tashkent and Shymke...

Re: Details for an excellent car mechanic in Osh

Thanks for the reply Adrian. I have left the vehicles under large covers at the Hotel Classic in Osh , and am now back in Europe, had a job to get back to! I will go back to Osh next month and sort it out. My flight arrives on Saturday around noon in Osh, as you say I am sure I can get them to work ...

Re: Iran sanctions 2018 Q&A

Went through Iran for the 3rd time in 12 months, last July. Absolutely no problem.People very friendly! I had changed money on the BM before arriving in Iran, the best would be to make contact with the Iranian diaspora before arriving in Iran.

Re: Penjikent Border Crossing Reports

We crossed a month ago Samarkand into Tajikistan with our two. SA registered cars. Was quite painless except for the fact that they wanted all our bags (from two 4WD!) to go through their X-ray machine. On the end they did not insist on ALL the contents of the cars going through the X-Ray machine bu...

Re: Details for an excellent car mechanic in Osh

Hello, I have 2 vehicles in Osh in need of serious attention. I had to leave them in the hotel car park and will return to sort out the problems. Do you have a telephone number for Evgenyi? Any idea if they will be around on a Saturday afternoon and prepared to work on a Sunday?

Re: Carnet Question: Leaving a vehicle in Iran while exiting the country temporarily

An update. We exited after vehicle had been 11 months in Iran. We exited twice without the vehicles. Got the final exit stamps. No problem. Now sending the COD’s back to Switzerland to recover the guarantee.

Re: Exiting Iran from different exit point on carnet.

Hello, we also had car problems and had tonput a vehicle on a flat bed truck to Mashhad and leave the car there for 6 months. However we had no problem exiting (after the car had been in Iran 11 months!!) but we were on a true CPD with a hefty guarantee lodged with the Swiss touring Club and I think...

Re: Diesel in Uzbekistan

We entered from Turkmenistan with 80 litres in jerrycan. Tanked up just leaving Turtkul on way to Bokhara. Had no idea we would not see diesel again!! Not sure of the quality. Best to bring your fuel from Turkmenistan.m, it’s a lot cheaper there and it’s a hassle searching for the diesel in Uzbekist...

Re: Leaving a car in Central Asia

This is an interesting thread. I would like to leave my vehicle in Uzbekistan (Tashkent) for several months from January- I understand that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (and Tajikistan?) are part of the customs union with Russia (so, OK to leave 12 months there). But what about Uzbekistan? Have there b...
