Hi DoubleDutch,

Is there any public transportation from Kurdistan to Turkey?
Hi bamboo,
We don't know, but we wouldn't count on it. A lot is done by taxi in Kurdistan.
Good luck!

Re: Coronavirus border closures & re-openings

Turkey opened the border again (not with Iran). Kurdistan is still locked, but with the right paperwork via the consulate, we got out. Report of the crossing at viewtopic.php?p=36566#p36566

Re: Iraqi Kurdistan - Turkey border crossing reports

Kurdistan --> Turkey Crossed on Tuesday 16 June and Wednesday 17 June. Couple with Dutch passports and Dutch car. Because of the travel ban in Kurdistan, we needed a special paper to drive to the border crossing and leave the country. After you enter the border area, don't forget to stop at the firs...

Re: Coronavirus border closures & re-openings

Update from Iraqi Kurdistan: land borders are still closed. Right before Eid, we had our expired Kurdistan visa renewed. No problems, just paying the normal amount of money for extending with one month. We don't know what will happen at the border once we leave, the car was only imported for 1 month...

Re: Corona virus border closures

Turkey also closed its border with Kurdistan. The Kurdish border with Iran was already closed. Since Syria and Iraq aren't an option anyhow, all overland borders are closed now. (Yes, we are stuck in Kurdistan at the moment.)

Re: Corona virus border closures

Iraq is closing its borders with Iran. Unclear if it's only for Iraqi nationals and Iranian nationals.

Turkey to Iraqi Kurdistan 15 Feb. 2020 Dutch couple in Dutch plates Defender We arrived on a Saturday at 10:30 local time. There were 15 cars in front of us. Took a half hour to reach the first Turkish "gate". We had to fill out a form you can get in the office next to it. We didn't know, so we arri...

Re: Big Silk Road trips: Weather planning Q&A

Yeah, we'll probably stick to the southwest corner of Turkey for now. I was hoping there would be a good option for February, if our visa runs out. But if it is still cold in Georgia and North Iran (or anywhere else we could bring the car), it will probably be a case of just going for it and trying ...

Re: Big Silk Road trips: Weather planning Q&A

Hi again! It's been a while. We thought about leaving September 2018, but in the end we left a full year later! We wanted to follow your advice Steven (rushing through Europe, be in Iran etc in winter), but we were just so tired of all the preparations, that we just couldn't rush anymore. So it's Wi...
