Re: South Ossetia from North Ossetia

If you haven't done already, I would advise you to check this page (bottom half, for foreign passport holders), and use the contact details in the bottom for further enquiries. http://www.mfa-rso.su/taxonomy/term/13 As far as I know this still stands. According to this news report of just over 2 wee...

Re: Caucasus to Iran to Turkey

Well, I was going to mention it, but just as you indicate, it is a paper alternative, as there is no practical use for it in relation to the question. It is part of the old (now defunct) Yerevan-Tehran connection, through indeed Nakchivan.

Re: Train from Caucasus to Iran

Check my comments in your older thread on this, regarding connectivity to Iran. https://caravanistan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3507&p=16104#p16104 In addition to that: BTK is not yet operating, and be aware of a few recent articles (30 april > ) that you might come across when you Googl...

Re: Caucasus to Iran to Turkey

There is none, as far as trains concerned, at the moment. It was supposed to serve as Iran-Russia transport corridor including Armenia as part ...

Re: South Ossetia from North Ossetia

Thanks for this. Yes, the SO authorities are still seeking to unite with NO (they call it "re-unite", which is historically incorrect), but the green light for a referendum on that is still not given by the Kremlin, which is what the leadership of SO implies in comments when asked about re...

Re: Posof (TR) - Vale (GEO): border crossing reports

Just to add in, an old testimony for purposes of tracking historic experiences: Crossed here in July 2009 from Georgia to Turkey. Georgian road section (last 1-2 km) was pretty bad at the time. Relaxed crossing, no hassles and very primitive countryside crossing compared with the Sarps border. Getti...

Re: Sarp border at Turkey/Georgia: reports & updates

I once had a (probably horseshit) story at the BG-TK border that my car at the time was too old to bring in Turkey (not for commerce, just for my own travelling). It was 30+ years old, and they said the rule was max. 20 years. After some discussions, and some haggling in their systems it was OK. We ...
