Another possibilities is that due to covid/lack of tourists it does not run curtently. I am, however, not up to date what the covid situation is...

Re: Kyrgyzstan to open borders to all foreigners

On a sidenote: I read about a similar arrangement for Pakistan. So there might be a few options next summer, wonder whether otger Central Asian countries open up.

Re: Q&A: Door to Hell
I visited the crater in the same periid on year ago. Plebty of yurts at the crater, but they all seemed closed. What did you end up doing? Is it realistic to expect yurts to rent out every night? I did the train option. Perhaps it was possible to let the motorcycle guy that took arrange accomodatio...

Re: Planning my itinerary
There is a Kazakhstan visa page which answers your 2nd quedtion. I would want to do the pamirs asap as it only gets colder. Your first question is too broad. What are your interests, mode of transport etc? But you could fill two months in Tajikistan only. You will need to make choices, but you will ...

Re: Silk Road Planning Advice
Even without Russian I had a great time. There are always ways to communicate without spoken language. Download a translation app, bring a phrasebook and perhaps learn a few russian words. There is enough beaten path in central asia where English is no problem. The level of English in the Tajik Pami...
