Re: 4 cyclists killed in Tajikistan

I believe it occurred on the main road for cyclists taking the south route through kulob. The vehicle was found in a town nearby, away from the main road. Either way, it shouldn't be taken for granted that Tajikistan does not have a history of attacks like this. There's no pattern, so it's more like...

Re: Qolma/Kulma pass (China-Tajikistan) border crossing reports

We're 2 canadian cyclists who crossed from Tajikistan to China over Kulma pass on June 21, 2018. We have a couple things to add. We left Murghab at 8am and arrived at the control zone check point at 13:30 with a good tail wind (70km). About 20km of the road is rough, the rest paved. After passport, ...

Bike parts from Moscow in Dushanbe

This is a link from another forum. It's an incredibly useful service for anyone needing decent bike parts and are passing through Dushanbe.

Re: Bike parts in Dushanbe from Moscow

I sent the hostel an email a few days before arrival with links for the hubs i wanted, plus a pair that would also work. Re: Registration in Uzbekistan

We were asked for our slips at the Sariosiyo crossing. The guard at the gate looked at them and the guy who stamped us out looked at them. They didn't read through them, just checked a few to see that we had registered often enough (in their opinion in that moment). We had registered every 3 nights ...

Re: Uzbekistan Embassy in Baku

Easy process for 4 Canadians in Baku. Our friends submitted on a Friday, got confirmation the following Tuesday. We submitted on Monday and picked up on Thursday. Ignore the 'office hours' posted (mon, wed, fri 10-12 and 1-4). They were open on Tuesday and Thursday. They were closed for lunch from 1...

Re: Caspian sea ferry updates & questions

We're four cyclists and we bought our tickets to Aqtau at the port in Alat. We called daily until we were told a ferry was leaving and headed straight to the port. They attempted to send us back to Baku, but eventually gave up and sold us tickets, paid for in USD. After being allowed into the port, ...

Re: Registration Azerbaijan

Hi, we're two cyclists from Canada, we registered in Balakan on April 17th. The registration was simple, we didn't even have to say a word. We walked in the door and the guy asked for our passports and visas. It took 10 minutes and 5 manat each. No hotel reservations were needed or asked for. I reco...
