I found a tour company based in Skardu that offers various 4x4s specifically for Karakoram highway.
Prices are as following. They don't include fuel or a driver.
Hilux 60$ per day
Vigo 70$ per day
Prado 80$ per day
To book them you can get in touch with me via [email protected]

Re: Bayankol permits for Marble Wall Kazakhstan
From a recent trip report (25.07.19) on this blog it seems that permit is still necessary. It was officially cancelled in 2015, but the border guards are not letting anyone in without the permit. Travellers still got stopped and weren`t allowed in, because there was a mistake in the document! After ...

Re: Feedback on our itinerary

I think you can still visit the lake. But first, you need to go to Kochkor. From there catch a shared taxi to Song Kol.

Re: Itinerary help - 5 weeks May & beginning of June
Hi! You covered most of the popular sights already. I agree that you should start in Uzbekistan first as the temperature is a little cooler. Uzbekistan: I suggest you fly to Khiva instead of Nukus. Unless you are going to Aral sea and visit Savitsky museum with a tour there is no need to go to Nukus...
