Re: Central Asia photo galleries

Ha! I have a photo of that same lady at the silk factory. Just not as good a photo as yours. Thanks for sharing. I think Uzbekistan is probably the most photogenic country I've visited.

Re: Tashkent airport: reports and Q&A

My flight FROM Tashkent was at 2:40am. Certainly while I was in departures (landside) well after midnight, there was an exchange booth open. Phones, laptops and internet restrictions in China

I'm reading at the moment, that crossing the land borders from Kyrgyzstan involves border guards examining and checking phones and computers for content, and installing an app on phones. If travelling with a laptop that one's used for work, presumably it's wise to upload everything work related to t...

The Torugart Pass

There seems to be very little recent info on here re: taking the Torugart Pass to enter China, and obviously the situation is constantly changing at the border.

If anyone has any experience of the route, and useful information, it would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Re: Kochkor to Song-Kul Trek

My friend is out there at the moment (but with no communication right now as he is on another trek) so I'm asking on his behalf. But he plans to do the trek in a few days' time.

Re: Kochkor to Song-Kul Trek

Oh...and if it's possible to do it independently without needing a tent, any reports on that would be welcome, too.

Kochkor to Song-Kul Trek

Can anyone recommend an agency in Kochkor to book a three day/two night trek with? Googling is bringing up a fair number of pretty bad reviews for a couple of places, so I'm looking for some good experiences.

Re: Iranian visa for US, UK and Canadian passports: Q&A

Sorry I can't help, but this does sound very odd, if the FCO is unaware. Have you tried contacting the Iranian Embassy in London? The visa section is open Mon/Wed/Fri 2-5 http://london.mfa.ir/index.aspx?fkeyid=&siteid=234&pageid=33953 Good luck. I imagine it must be very worrying to get that...
