Re: Kazakhstan road updates

Drove from Almaty to Semey around Lake Balkhash. Roads are ok near Almaty but very bumpy, full of potholes for about 600km. Roads force you to go off road as some roads are closed due to fallen bridges or roads under repair.

Re: Korday border Kazakhstan

Travelling by car it was a very simple border crossing as we did not need a visa for either countries. Border guards in Kazakhstan hesitated with my passport as there is a rip on certain pages but no problem in the end. Easy crossing in the end with no big car search

Re: Bajgiran/Ashgabat border updates

We had our letter of invitation prior to our arrival but it took about 4 hours to get our visa. Priority given to locals with local passports. A lot of confusion and waiting around, you go to the first booth and give your passport, then get called into second booth and get asked some strange questio...

Re: Bazargan to Gurbulak (Iran/Turkey) border crossing Q&A

We got to this border late at night and needed a carnet de passage security deposit. As like everywhere in Iran people were extremely helpful. First border person we met advised us we needed this carnet but to not settle for the first price. If you need definitely hold out for cheapest price as ther...
