Penjikent border crossing - long walk?

Hi Can you tell me whether there is a long walk (e.g. kilometres of no man’s land) between the Tajik side and the Uzbek side between the two countries, at the Penjikent border crossin? I am on foot and have a large bag, plus another. Also, how long is it likely to take to reach Tashkent by taxi from...

Re: Day hikes in Fann Mtns or Yagnob Valley?

Thanks for the suggestion Steven. I will try to work out how to do the 7 lakes and Iskanderkul as day walks.

Day hikes in Fann Mtns or Yagnob Valley?

Hi, I will be with a group doing a road trip from Bishkek to Dushanbe. After saying goodbye to the group in Dushanbe I have about 6 days to explore another area of Tajikistan before flying out. Thanks so much Steven. Hard to know which way to go, pre-book or not, without your local knowledge.
Thanks again

Re: Solo traveller - joining group

Thanks Steven,
I made an error - I meant I will be in Dushanbe in mid June! How would I be placed at that time to join a group? Or would it be better to set it up prior to arrival?
Many thanks

Solo traveller - joining group

Hi all I'm with a group which will arrive in Dushanbe mid May after having travelled along the Pamir Hwy. Then I'm on my own. While in Dushanbe for about 10 days how likely is it that I could join a small group to, say, Penjikent and Iskanderkul, to do day walks? What other mountain areas would you ...
