Re: Experiences sending some mail from Central Asia
@murg Definitely I will send the letter from Osh then, it is actually from where I was thinking to do it. So any detail that you could tell me will be great! Thank you guys for the feedback! Unfortunately I can't recall the details, like where we've posted the cards. It's been a Standard Post Offic...

Re: Experiences sending some mail from Central Asia
Hi there,
in 2019 we've send several postcards
The ones we posted in Buchara never made it to Germany.
Osh & Dushanbe worked just fine.
Be aware that the postcards from Osh arrived within about 10 days while the ones posted in Dushanbe took considerably longer.
Enjoy the Stans,
Dave

Re: Petrol Quality/Octane Rating - 'Stan' countries
I also have a petrol van and interested in that topic. And also, particular to above journey in the Pamirs, what kind of range should we aim for between 2 petrol stations ? Is 600 km sufficient ? more ? (i can bring extra jerry cans but...) I've been there in 2019. There's a petrol station in Khoro...

Not sure if the train is operating.
The border is open as my sources in Delhi say. I do Not know which documents are needed besides vehicle Docs, carnet, Passport & Visa, especially not which COVID Docs. The embassy could clarify this.

Re: Driving times in Tajikistan (especially Pamir Hwy)?
I agree on what Mazeno recommends,..., but could easily spend a couple of weeks on the pamir highway All true. I had too little time. If I could I'd stay 12 - 18 days in the Region. Roaming around by motorbike, doing hikes, lengthy conversations with locals, enjoying being remote. It is beautiful t...

Re: Driving hours through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgystan
Hi Garrian, I will give you some details. But keep in mind that driving Times depend on various facts, Like weather, vehicle, skills or simply Luck. We rode on 2 motorbikes in Mai '19. Beyneu - Qu'ungrat: one day/ 7-8 hours. 35°C+. Almost No fuel for a Long distance. Road Beyneu - Border OK. Behind ...

Re: Wagah Border (Lahore - Amritsar) PAK - IND
Hi there! Never heard of a ferry. You could ship the vehicle and take a train. Shipment will take time to organize & cost a Fortune. Indian customs are time consuming and nerve wrecking. Pakistan customs are Not used to the process, but works quite OK. A friend shipped 2 motorbikes from Karachi to E...

Re: Driving Pamir Highway without 4x4 drive
As long as you stay in the M41 you should be fine.
If you intend to drive the southern route/Wakhan:
ground clearance, good tires etc. are important.
And yes... Suspension! Important!
