Re: Buying train tickets Uzbekistan - Tajikistan
Hi there, I took the train Dushanbe to Termez last weekend. Easy to buy tickets for platzkart the night before -- 215 somoni. The train ride itself was good with friendly food-sharing passengers. The real issue was the border crossing took two hours and involved a very comprehensive search of both b...

Re: Embassy Report: Russian Visa in Dushanbe
Hi there, I tried to add one day to my Russian transit visa (because the airline cancelled my flight) at the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe. After much talking, they said it was completely impossible. They could only change it if I was flying to my home country (not likely!) or to come back on Monday t...

I stayed in a great little airbnb hotel near the "old" town. They were able to register me with no worries.

Iran coronavirus travel restrictions Q&A
Hi there,
I am planning to be in Iran at the end of January but was wanting to hear from some travelers currently there. Has there been a noticeable change in atmosphere ? Do you feel like anything has changed safety wise with the new developments ?
Looking forward to any thoughts or feedback

Applying for Turkmenistan transit visa by email ?
Hi there, Is it possible to apply for a Turkmenistan transit visa by email ? I don't have an embassy in my country (NZ), and will only be travelling in central Asia for about a week before I hope to cross Turkmenistan. (So I don't think it would be wise to try for Dushanbe or something). Many thanks,
