Re: Cancelling flight booking for China visa application: best practices

I guess if you really *had* to have an actual ticket you could always buy a Spring Airlines or AirAsia promotional fare. You can often pick up a one way zero frills flight for as cheap as 15USD (including tax) between Guangzhou and Don Muang Airport in Bangkok. At that price just toss the thing if ...

Re: Irkeshtam pass report – Kashgar, Xinjiang to Sary Tash, Kyrgyzstan

Hi All, Crossed at Irkeshtam about a week ago Kyrgyzstan => Kashgar. I'm leaving my experience here so that other travelers get a smoother crossing than I did The Kyrgyz side was largely uneventful we left Osh early in a private car and got to the border before lunch. Everyone was very nice we got d...

Re: Cancelling flight booking for China visa application: best practices

Hi, I just got my visa from the London embassy and I very much got the impression it was a box-ticking exercise I was a bit worried since I had already booked internal flights in XinJiang etc. but it went just fine Given the number of people you see in the visa center, I highly doubt they have time ...

Re: Turkmen visa Q&A

Hi guys, I have a LOI for a tourist visa and I was planning to get my visa at the embassy next week. My concern is that I am traveling with someone else who will be doing her visa in a different embassy. Do you guys know if this is possible or if using the LOI in an embassy voids it entirely? Thanks...

Re: Two questions - Russia and China visa application concerns

What I meant by atypical was more in terms of not flying in and staying in a single hotel for the duration of the trip. With the business visa you don’t have to justify each and every night. I don’t see why a land border would be an issue, as a matter of fact I used a return flight from Helsinki 2 y...

Re: Two questions - Russia and China visa application concerns

Hi, I can’t comment on Chinese visas but I’m fairly knowledgable about Russian visas. For atypical itineraries, i.e. not just Moscow and St Petersburg the best option is to get a Business visa because you don’t have to provide detailed itineraries. For that you need to buy a business invitation, whi...

Re: Drones in Central Asia - rules Q&A

Hi, I’m in a similar situation, I plan to travel from Turkmenistan to Xi’An in September and was planing to bring my drone with me. Since there seems to be no way around the Uzbekistan ban, I’m considering sending it to my hotel in Dushanbe and pick it up there. I’ve got a few questions on that and ...
