Re: Georgia to Russia Border crossing (Zemo Larsi - Chertov Most)

We 're a bit stuck here in Georgia now. Our Russian transit visa dates from 25 jun to 2 july. We tried the Roki tunnel and got turned away at gunpoint. We applied for a Abkhazia visa...no prob, they were very responsive to emails (in broken but understandable English) but 5 days processing and a ver...

Re: GEO-RUS border Geo Mil Highway

Nope closed. Some are telling us 1 month closure. On the waw back to Tbilisi we saw at least 4 oversized bulldozers on flatbed trucks heading up. Clearly lots of earth to move.

Embassy report: Russian Transit Visa in Tblisi, Georgia

Update from 10 June 2016 in Tblissi As noted before in the visa section, all papers listed were necessary. We arrived at 09hrs opening time but were told to return at 1130hrs when the Consul would be present. We had a pleasant chat (in English) with the Consul, he said "no problem". Deposi...

Re: Police / Border curruption - Advice?

Thing we learned on the PanAm: 1) rivet or bolt on your licence plates so they cannot be removed and held hostage by the cops 2) take high quality scans of your driver licence, registration, insurance and passport. You can even laminate them. Hand these copies to the cops for show to also prevent be...

Re: Police / Border curruption - Advice?

Be stupid tourist. Speak any language but English. It will go away in 10 or 15 min.

If you know you broke the law, you pay. But get an escort to the station and pay in front of everyone based on the paper fine.

TAJIKISTAN visa in ANKARA, TR - 2016

May 2015. Canadian and French Passport. Another reminder that you cannot deposit the application IF the Consulate is not present. Seems he is frequently away. We finally got his attention on our second day of visits. It seems that the rules have changed somewhat. You will need: • Download the applic...

Re: Embassy report: Iran visa in Tbilisi

Thanks Stephen I have been studying this site. To me it has a feel of a snake oil medecin man pitch. Not being able to directly contact and communicate with the agency makes me feel unsure. As the Iran visa is a risky bet on a good day, with rejections and its long term implications for subsequent v...

Re: Embassy report: Iran visa in Tbilisi

@thebee Hey there, just read your posting on how you succeeded with getting your Iranian visa. When you applied for your Iran authorisation number as a Canadian did you apply as part of a tour, or where you independently travelling? If independently, with which agency did you apply for the Authorisa...
