Re: dual citizen - change of passoport between crossings

Depends really on country and border guards. It is better to have everything on one passport, especially if it is visa related. Some years ago coming from Algeria I was refused entry on one of my passports in Tunesia, they told me I must have fallen out of the sky. That was no problem as with the ot...

Re: Cycling - Kashgar to Tehran

I would shift a bit, we were cycling last year in Iran in May and it was fine, I think April will also be ok for going into the Caucasus, but before it is winter. A lot of cyclists stay the winter in Iran and Oman, that's what I would do. In 2013 we cycled also from China to Turkey, but already in O...

Re: Dushanbe->Wakhan valley->Osh (from August 4th): trekking, ridesharing, travel buddy

The road over mats path was formerly done by jeeps. We did it in 2010 on bicycles and had to push a lot as the road is gone now. So walking will be no problem, you must cross the river at least once, we did it twice and the water was high (depends on weather). We came out on the other site than you ...

Not sure about your lakes, especially Sasykkul and Chukur Kul, if they are not too salty. I would take a lot of water from the strem on the Khargush side until you catch up the Pamir Hwy. There is no food resuply between Langar and Alichur/Bulunkul besides if you ask herders or the soldiers (so woul...

In 2013 we bought a SIM card in Karakul, not sure which carrier would be best for Bartang.

Re: medication in turkmenistan

We had problems when leaving Turkmenistan and were held 3 hours at the customs (Turkmenbashi), as we had some painkiller, that was on their list (Tramadol). We had a certificate from our doctor, but that did not help. So I would say it depends on the medication.

Re: Change kyrgyz soms in Tajikistan ?

We found Murghab to be useful to change money for Chinese Yuan (we had Yuan that we could not change in Kyrgyzstan), but should also be good for kyrgyz Som, as people of this region often do their shopping in Osh (in fact even shop owners from Alichur did this). In Khorog I would try it at the bazar.

Re: Offroad track to mountains - our map/suggestions?

The road to the west of Inylcheck doesn't exist (or not any longer) and the road to the east of Inylcheck isn't going as far as depicted (only to Khan Tengri Camp, in google earth this is the name, when we were there in 2004 there was a different name - ak dshailo). You usually need a border permit ...

Re: Permit Pamir national park

There exists a national park, which is also delimited on the Pamirs map of Markus Hauser. I've read reports, that people got problems around Yashilkul, when they had no permit. We could once buy a permit in Murghab (but you should also be able to get in Khorog), it is on a day by day base. But we wer...
