Re: Istanbul to Xian - how long?

Yes it's evolved - we are starting from the Chinese end - and the visas for China are the biggest pain. Availability of drinking water

I normally just buy it as required but I can't work out if its readily available in this region and whether it's worth bringing some form of water flirtation like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/produc...

Re: Bishkek to Istanbul overland - visas, budget and cash withdrawl

What nationality are you - that makes a huge difference re visas - for example if you are UK or USA Iran is closed unless you join a tour group. I'm researching a similar trip -though we're not going to Iran this time (want to do another trip to USA with an ESTA which you can't get if you've been ti...

Re: Help required on a proposed trip from Almaty via Train & Plane and back to Almaty.

The info on trains in the region I've found is here http://www.seat61.com/Uzbekistan.htm We like the trains too - but I wasn't planning on booking them in advance - just at the station a couple of days before arrival. I don't get the impression that the country is set up to deal with advance plannin...

Re: Istanbul to Xian - how long?

Done some further research - and I'm now thinking China to Europe will work as a direction better - I may have some issues around a Chinese viasa with out a flight out of the country but there are ways and means apparently. What I've got now is Weeks 1-2 Xian to Kashgar Week3-6 Krygistan- Pamir High...

Re: Internet data on Pamir highway

Coca cola trekking? That's news to me. As a sole female I think it's foolish not to have data as back whenever possible. Someone tell grandpa here that there is an Internets outside of fb. LOL me too. I've travelled a lot solo - I don't understand why having Internet would make you more or less saf...
