Re: Three Weeks in the Wakhan Corridor
Got a bit of information from the PECTA tourism information office in Khorog. As bws812 said, the people in this part of Afghanistan are not strict with their religion and travelling during Ramadan is meant to pose no real problems from what I was told. The only issue that might come up from it is g...

Re: Qolma/Kulma pass (China-Tajikistan) border crossing reports
Three of us crossed on the 7th of May from Tashkurgan to Murghab. Spent two hours trying to hitchhike from Tashkurgan to the Kala suu checkpoint with no success. Only three people stopped and quoted ridiculous prices. Eventually the bus from Tashkurgan to Kashgar came past around 9 local time and pi...

Three Weeks in the Wakhan Corridor (2018)
EDIT: To read a write up of how my trip to the end of the Wakhan Corridor went, see here Hello everyone! In a few days I will be entering Afghanistan from Ishkashim for three weeks. I have had a good read through a few things online about the area including this website and despite it getting me mor...

Re: Easter in Kazakhstan
Oh wow that sounds very interesting! We were expecting to depart Kazakhstan a couple of days before the 8th but maybe we will stay a little longer now. A week in between the two easters gives us just enough time to recover from all the chocolate.

Easter in Kazakhstan
After settling on a route through the stans my partner and I have realised we will be in Kazakhstan for easter. Neither of us are religious but we were wondering if easter is a big deal there.
Will there be anything of interest we should see or do? We will likely be in Astana or Almaty at the time.

Re: Report: Mongolia VISA extension in Ulan Bator
Just an update to say my partner and I successfully extended our visa yesterday despite not having registered within our first 7 days in the country. We have been in Mongolia for over two weeks already but no issue was made of it. Procedure and prices were exactly the same as described on caravanist...

Re: Money when travelling
For what it's worth my partner and I have just been through the first part of your planned trip from Malaysia to Mongolia. We have a credit card which offers no conversion fees AND no ATM withdrawal fees if we have its balance in credit. Withdrawing money on the go has worked fine, the only inconven...
