Re: Turkmenistan Transit Visa in Tehran

Following from previous post. I went back to the embassy four days later with a copy of my Afghan visa and the official offered to check on the status of my application. This could be quite helpful for those that want to find out if they've been rejected earlier than the ten days. Anyway, DENIED. Re...

Re: Embassy report: Pakistan visa in Tehran

Hey homeless French hitcher, Glad you found this helpful. I couldn't apply for the tourist visa as I'm visiting another five countries beforehand and there's no way I could wait more than a month even if I wasn't; nor the transit visa as it's validity would have expired well before I arrived in Paki...

Embassy report: Pakistan visa in Tehran

Tourist visa can be done here only if you will be going to Pakistan immediately after Iran. Will take a long time (over a month) to process apparently. Transit visa (15 days) is possible but expiry will be one month from date visa is processed. Must have visa of country you're transiting to (and pho...

Re: Embassy report: Afghan visa in Tehran, Iran

No transit visa available. Not stated anywhere but applications have to be made before 1pm (I'd guess at least thirty minutes before), as the bank where payments are made closes at that time. Embassy is open Sat-Wed 8-4, although desk was unmanned 12:40-15:00, due to workload first time I visited. I...

Re: Turkmenistan Transit Visa in Tehran

Will post my account once I get the result. However, two interesting points from my visit there. Two Chinese tourists were told that it's not possible to transit to Azerbaijan (they had Az visa). My request to transit from Afghanistan through to Uzbekistan was fine though. I mentioned to them that c...

Re: Embassy report: Uzbekistan visa in Tehran with LOI

No different to the previous accounts. US$42 LOI via Topchan, not-rushed, arrived in 10 working days. Visa: US$85 Australian passport, double entry, received on the spot within ten minutes, only brought one application form. They incorrectly listed only one entry and charged $75, but altered it (in ...

Iraqi Kurdistan - Iran (Bashmax/Marivan) crossing

Exiting Iraq: simple, ensure you enter the smaller exit building and within ten minutes you'll be stamped out. Entering Iran: security checked luggage and visa, pulled out computer, got me to login and then took it away. Once the luggage search was complete they brought me in check the computer with...

Re: Iraqi Kurdistan - Turkey border crossing reports

N.B. Crossing from Turkey into Kurdistan/Iraq cannot be made by foot, the other direction has no such requirement. I can't speculate as to how bikes would be received. Hitched from the Otogar to the centre of Silopi but there are also Dolmus available to take you the 3kms (apparently 3 Lira). I caug...

Embassy report: Nagorno-Karabakh in Yerevan

Just a quick note

I got my visa today in 20 minutes but was told that usually it takes a day. Only reason they would do it on the spot was that it was Friday. 3000 dram still.

Re: Visiting Azerbaijan after Nagorno-Karabakh: experiences

This may not be related at all, I have no idea. I visited Azerbaijan last week from Georgia, left and entered Armenia a day later. Few days later, in Yerevan I was going to make my way to Garni/Gerghard from Gui bus station. I was at the Gai statue so walked to find the station. Stopped to check the...
