Re: Russian tourist visa in Tbilisi, Georgia

You may want to try to find an agency to get a tourist visa for you (this costs usually visa price plus 20-50 USD), as they'll make sure you don't get refused and know when to give the consulate clerk payments, whose legal basis is not obvious (aka bribes). Concerning the transit visa, he was techni...

Re: Bishkek-Tashkent train: reports and Q&A

Probably you will get tickets 2 days in advance, but I can't guarantee obviously. If you manage to book the train online with Kazakh Railways, picking up the ticket in Almaty should be no problem.

Re: Luggage Storage on Trains

On some trains, people take their entire household, while on others, some weight limit (often 35 kg) or piece limit (3 pcs) is more or less strictly enforced. I have no idea how it is on these trains, but please tell us what happened :D

Re: Bishkek-Tashkent train: reports and Q&A

While Kyrgyz Railways has been using Moscow time since 1990, Russian Railways have abolished it since today/yesterday (August 1st 2018), so I assume Kyrgyz Railways will do/have done the same and swich(ed?) to local time. Best to ask at the station however...

Re: Bishkek-Tashkent train: reports and Q&A

At pass.rzd.ru (Russian Railways) it costs 2203 RUB (35 USD) in Platskartny (3rd class/open-plan sleeper), 2973 RUB (47 USD) in Kupe (2nd class/4-bed compartments) or 5702 RUB (90 USD) in Lux (1st class/2-bed sleeper). Bought at the counter in Uzbekistan, it might be slightly cheaper. You can buy ti...

Online booking of some Uzbek trains might be possible via pass.rzd.ru

I just bought a ticket for the Uzbek train no. 9FA Buchara - Samarkand - Tashkent with RŽD (pass.rzd.ru), assuming I had to pick the real ticket up at a Russian train station. To my astonishment, I got a PDF saying "ПОСАДОЧНЫЙ КУПОН — BOARDING COUPON", wich means that you can actually use ...

Re: Baku - Astara Train with bike

If there is a bus that takes bikes, I'd go for the bus. My post was assuming that you have no choice.

Re: Baku - Astara Train with bike

Officially, no. In practice, there might be a way: Buy four tickets (for one compartment, assuming there are one or two of you) in Kupe. Buy them online at https://ticket.ady.az/en/tickets to prevent the cashier from destroying your plans. This is not going to be expensive, expect 10 AZN (5 EUR/6 US...

Re: Uzbekistan e-visa Q&A

Hi! We're trying to apply for an e-visa for Uzbekistan. We're from the Netherlands, but when we try to fill in our citizenship in the first page, we're not able to select our country. We found out that the e-visa is for any country of the EU, so we should be able to apply for an e-visa I guess. Any...

Re: EVisa Tajikistan -Country of birth not on my passport- is this an issue?

There is no passport that explicitly states your country at birth, so that's not an issue at all. I'm unsure if it means "citizenship you had at birth" or "country the place where you were born is in" though (yes, this can differ).
