Re: Horse riding Almaty in winter

Hi Rolof,

There might be few places where horse riding could be arranged. It is fairly easy to ride a horse for few hours in one of the mountain resorts around Almaty. But if you need a longer tour, I need to look for options.
Let me know!

Re: Teaching Opportunities in Kazakhstan?

Native english speakers, especially americans are very wAnted in almaty. Expect to fetch around 5000-8000 dollars per month tax-free if you are American. Haileybury, american school, miras and kimep offer opportunities. Private tutoring can be more lucrative still.

Re: Rug makers in southern Kazakhstan

Hi Suzy, Kazakh felt carpets are very similar to Kyrgyz "shyrdaks". Basically you can`t tell a difference. I had 2 contacts in Almaty who produce and sell hand-made carpets. Good quality carpets, but as anything hand-made in Kazakhstan - expensive. Wages here are much higher than in Uzbekistan, KG, ...

Re: Want to buy a printer in Astana - Where to buy?

I recently asked one private retailer from Almaty how does she order stuff from Amazon. 1. There are many companies who arrange bulk postage (a courrier) to Kazakhstan from US. 2. Select what you want to buy from Amazon, pay and it will be delivered to those companies. 3. once you are happy with sen...

Re: Almaty to Altyn Emel

Hi! It is a 7 hour drive to the park and most people go there by their own transport. The closest village to Altyn Emel is Baschi village. But I dont know any details about public transport. Perhaps you need to get to Sary Ozek which is a town closer to Altyn Emel, and hire taxi to Baschi. Also keep...
