I just spent a few days in Astana where the bus system ticketing system ha gone completely digital. Same applies to Almaty.
Locals mainly use payment...

This happens in many countries and it gives me the sh!ts. I am more than happy to pay the bus fare to the driver, but these digital cards are a pain....
