Car hiring between Almaty and the Russian border

Hello everyone,

We are a group of 4 cyclists going to Mongolia. I am looking for a car to hire in Almaty to cross Kazakhstan to the Russian border in Semey. I think that international companies (Hertz, Avis...) can just hire a car around Almaty. Do you know someone in Almaty who could rent his car (any van, old or new, would be the best) between Almatay and Oskemen ?
Otherwise we will take public transports.

Hi Jules,
If you hire a car in Almaty you need to bring it back. This won`t work with your plan. Btw the road conditions are pretty bad. Relatives of mine drove from Almaty to Oskemen few weeks ago and there are lots of potholes and repair works along the route. Best if you take a train.
