Looking for recemmendation of travel agency who can organise a car and driver (from Ust-K) and border permit for trip to Yazovoe Lake, and stay at the Guest House there.
Also, if anyone knows the following it would help with plans before I speak to agent:
-Time to drive Ust-Kamenogorsk to Berel, and Berel to Yazovoe Lake
-What time of year does the Lake Yazovoe Guest House open
-What is needed to obtain a border permit - can I get it before I arrive in KZ
-How long are the border permits valid for. Or must they be for a specific date window you plan to travel

Hi Daniel,
We can organize your trip to Yazevoe lake. Please send a message to my email address: [email protected] if you are still looking for a tour.
I will put together all the necessary information and request a quote from our partner in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
From what I have heard that guesthouse next to the lake is very basic. Actually that is just a standing alone house for rental. There is no one there to cook or prepare bed sheets for guests. Hopefully things have changed by now. Alternatively we can find a better place to stay in Berel.
The drive to Berel is 5 to 6 hours. We usually recommend to have a stop to see some petroglyphs along the way.
Since you are coming as a tourist the easiest way to apply for border permit is through an agency. Yes, you can get it before your arrival. The permit is date specific - if you are spending, lets say 3 days, it will be valid only these 3 days.
