taxi scam airport

Got a taxi from ALMATY airport for an Agreed fare of T2000. AT hostel, driver showed me his phone with a fare of T32000!! That's over US$90...Offered him a choice of 2000 or zero, walked off. Hostel receptionist laughed I his face. Was happy for him to call police but receptionist wasn't so keen, so it cost T4000to get rid of him.

Too bad, there are now taxi booths where you can book your taxi without negotiations with unofficial taxis. There is also the new shuttle bus for a mere 500 tenge.
