Trekking around Almaty
Hello, we would like to visit Kazakhstan i this august mainly for trekking. We would like to trek on our own with tents in Ile Alatau and Altyn Emel, each trek for about four days. And we would like to visit canyn charyn. Is it possible camp in national park? Do we need any permits? Thanks

trekking in Altyn Emel is not really possible, I think, how did you come up with that idea?
Ili Alatau is much better and lots of possible routes. Only area near Big Almaty Lake needs permits for foreigners and is not advised, too difficult.
Camping is allowed everywhere (except around BAL)
Charyn Canyon also has an interesting trekking route, better than Altyn Emel, see the article below for the link to the GPS route.
