Camping stove fuel in Almaty

Postby jagielcm » Sun Apr 16, 2017 8:58 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know where can I buy camping stove fuel (e.g. Campingas, Kovea, Coleman, MSR, etc) in Almaty ?
I was trying to find something in internet but found only one post from before 6 years saying something about fishing shop on Seifullin St. 534 (close to Seifullin - Abay crossing).

I will be grateful for any information about this.

Thanks,
Marcin

Hey!

Did you find fuel somewhere last year? We have been running around all day through the outdoorshops of Almaty and also to the gas station. We would be super glad about a hint, because we don't want to buy an extra gas cooker ;)

Thanks a lot in advance and greetings from Almaty!

What type of gas canister do you need and weight?

Just checked today.

This shop has 220 gr and maybe others (I didn't ask) https://goo.gl/maps/PzwVEfGyovk

And at this shop only 100 gr left https://goo.gl/maps/akjyv4uydpP2

Hey, thanks for your quick reply!

We need liquid fuel for this msr cooker:

https://www.msrgear.com/ie/stoves/liqui ... nal-2012-1

So it is just petrol, but it has to be "cleaner" than the one from the gas station. Sorry, that I didn't specify the type of fuel before. In the outdoorshops in Almaty they sell the same cooker, but no liquid fuel...

Thanks again!

Liquid fuel is not popular here. We prefer to use gas)

I'll ask friends around. Maybe someone has it. But can't guarantee that can find petrol for stove here.

By when do you need it?

In the link it's written that it's multi-fuel stove. No chance that you can use gas?

That's so nice of you, thanks! We wanted to leave Almaty direction charyn canyon by Tuesday. But we'll also return to Almaty after a couple of days. And go for another trek, so whenever anybody can find something we're happy. But we also got some addresses, that we can check on Monday (I'll leave a message her how it went). Do you, just in case know if we can lend a gas cooker somewhere?

This company sells liquid fuel for gas stove. But they sell in the bottle like in the picture.

Do you have an empty fuel canister to reload it with the fuel? Or you need a proper canister?

I'll check about renting gas stoves tomorrow as today most shops are already closed.

That looks exactly like what we need! You're the best! I'll check with the shop tomorrow if they have it! I'll let you know then! Thanks again a million times :)

And yes, we have the bottle for the gas cooker, we just need the liquid to refill it, so the canister like in the picture is just fine.

It's written that the shop works Monday to Friday 9am to 5 pm.
So they are off tomorrow.
If I find other shops that open tomorrow I'll let you know.
