Camping stove fuel and outdoor gear in Almaty

From an old article I am deleting, here are some more outdoor shops in Almaty you can try:

Limpopo: Seifullin 534, corner with Kurmangazy str. Specializes in camping gear, ski gear, snowboards, bikes, hiking gear, sport clothing and sport shoes.

Dinamo: Kunaev 83, corner with Kazybek Bi str.  Expect a good range of tents and sleeping bags, skis, snowboard, bikes, hiking gear, sport clothing, sport shoes. Prices are a bit higher here than with others.

Biwec: Dostyk 99, on the corner with Khadzhi-Mukan street. Biwec sells tents, bicycles, ski gear and sports clothing.

ProSport: Gogol 87, corner with Baiseitova str. in front of "Ubileiniy" Supermarket. Sells snowboard, bikes, skate, hiking gear, sport clothing, sport shoes, optics and camping gear

SportMaster: Bogenbai Batyr 89 A, corner with Dostyk ave. SSki and snowboards, bikes, skate, hiking gear, sport clothing, sport shoes, optics, balls.

We spent quite some time doing research on where to find appropriate rental equipment in Almaty, and we eventually ended up renting with the guys from Almaty Tourist Support (Link with address and phone number – best to whatsapp them in advance).

We rented the full gear with them for less than 10 Euro per day and the quality was good. You should however bring some warm clothes for the nights in the mountains just in case.

We are here in Almaty with the same requirement- fuel for an MSR Whisperlite stove - does anyone have any up to date guidance they could share? We are looking to travel to Kolsai lakes on the weekend
