fellas,
does anyone knows the current condition of the following state roads:
A-27 aktobe-kandyagash-dossor
A-26 yrgyz-shalkar-emba-kandyagash (or exchangeable variant aralsk-shalkar along the railway)?
still unpaved, potholes and bumps or maybe black, flat and fast right/ride now ;) ?
were the roads reconstructed last time (e.g. for the expo, although these are not the most important in kzh), maybe?
A-27, A-26 - road condition (Aqtau - Aqtobe)
Re: A-27, A-26 - road condition
I took A-27 aktobe-kandyagash-dossor last august, from aktobe to mukur.
First 100-150 km from aktobe, not bad.
Then, almost no road: only option was to ride in the sandy side tracks in the steppe.
There is my report on the hubb

Re: A-27, A-26 - road condition
Drove A27 between Aktobe and Mukur, then a small track eastwards to Qulsary, in June 2017
With one minor exception there was absolutely no sign of constructionwork
Aktobe - Bayganin: decent road, bumpy but no potholes. 60km average, several new Gas Stations
Bayganin - Mukur: road deteriorates rapidly, wiser to stay on the tracks on the side. Tracks very good when dry. Average 25-35km/h
Mukur - Dossor: drove it in 2012, really bad state. Stay on side tracks.
Nukus - Qulsary: real pile of crap. Road undriveable for anything but a tank. Sidetracks sometimes good, often bad, sometimes terrible. Probably undriveable when wet, adventerous in any non-4WD. No gas stations, almost no other cars.
Extremely fine chalk-dust that gets absolutely everywhere! Seal everything you got and expect to clean your gear for at least 5 hours afterwards.
All in all: going via Oralsk is longer, but faster. Via Nukus is much more adventerous, though tough on cars and people.

Re: A-27, A-26 - road condition (Aqtau - Aqtobe)
Hello,
Has anyone driving the Aktobe-Atyrau road (A-27) in 2018? The caravanistan driving page for kazakhstan says it has been upgraded and is in a good state but all the locals here in Aktobe are saying don't do it, its awful! Just wondering if anyone has any recent first hand experience of the road condition?
Thx!

Re: A-27, A-26 - road condition (Aqtau - Aqtobe)
Hi there,
I just drove the A-27 from Dossor to Aktobe with a motorbike. It took me two days.
Dossor - Makat : the road is ok.
Makat - Bayganin : the road is destroyed, 30 km/h average. Lot of potholes. Sometimes it's better to take the track on the side but it's sandy. A little bit better at the end (near Bayganin).
Bayganin - Aktobe : the road is better but really bumpy, 60 km/h average.

Re: A-27, A-26 - road condition (Aqtau - Aqtobe)
Thanks for the info guys. That has helped us make our route decision for today! I don't think our heavily laden road bike will enjoy the A-27 much - we'll head to Uralsk then south
