Transit visa for foreigners.

I am a citizen of Nigeria and I study in Ukraine. I applied for visa to Thailand although I am still waiting for reply from the Embassy. I would like to fly with Air Astana but I will need a transit visa. I called the Embassy but didn't quite understand what they said.
Please do you know what I need to do? I would appreciate your help. Thanks.
