Deposit on tours

Post by mimmi74 »

I'm planning a 4-day tour in Kazakhstan. I found a provider online. But they are requesting a 20% deposit before the tour. Is it normal? We are talking about like 200 euros.

Hi mimmi,

yes, that's normal. You can find the same practice the world over. We recommend that tour operators ask for a deposit. So many tourists in the past did not bother to show up. Guesthouses were booked (they require full payment up-front), food supplies had to be thrown away, time and petrol was wasted, all for no return.

To make sure that no money would be lost in case tourists do not show up, a deposit is the best bulwark.

I give you my word that you will get your tour if you are booking with someone you found through our website. Else, I will personally pay you your money back.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the information.

I hope this will work out. Actually I don't think it was through your website.

Well, I will see in July what happens :D
