Necessary to book Yurts ahead of time (Ala-Kol)?

Post by jlast »

Hi! I will be doing the 3 days / 2 nights Ala-Kol Altyn-Arashan trek in the 2nd week of July. Is it necessary to book in advance the yurts? I plan on my first night to be at Ala-Kol lake, and the second night at Altyn-Arashan. Thanks for any tips!

Thanks, Julia!

The 3 days / 2 nights does look feasible based on what I can find on a handful of blogs (e.g., https://www.goatsontheroad.com/trekking ... out-guide/)

Hi.
I checked the link. I believe if you start from Karakol gorge you can reach Ala Kol lake in one day.
We just used the longer trek. The area is beautiful and we wanted to explore more.

About yurts I think you can maybe contact some travel agents and they maybe can help you to book a space in a yurt.

The thing is I don't know if it's certain that you'll be able to get a space in a yurt.
When I did that trek it was pretty popular and crowded at base camps.
We had own tent.
But what if there will be no space at all for you in a yurt.

And they made a overnight stop on their way to Ala Kul.
So if you want to do it in one day it can be pretty tough hike.
Anyway, there are base camps on the way to the lake if you decide to rest.
