Drone rules Kyrgyzstan

Hey guys,

Question regarding drone use in Kyrgyzstan. In May 2020 me and some friends are arriving in Osh by plane to drive the pamir highway.

I really want to film everything with a drone but I just read the new drone rules about Kyrgyzstan. Its not allowed anymore. Any experience with that somebody?

And how is the check in Osh Airport? Will they search my luggage?

Regards,

Rick

Bags are sometimes passed through X-ray at arrival, especially if they're large. Personally I never got checked but I travel with a small rucksack. Also bear in mind that a lot of the Highway is either near borders or in very close proximity to military installations, especially in Tajikistan. I got a bit of a dressing-down for daring to take a photo of a hollowed-out APC chassis near Karakul's military base; a drone would be even more conspicuous.

Having said that, I for one welcome this ban. Having worked most of my career in the air transport industry, drones are forever etched in my mind as potential dangers (way too many close calls with airplanes taking off or landing). Additionally, there were a few drones at the World Nomad Games in 2018 and their noise spooked horses and eagles.
