Kyrgyzstan is a rough place for local women. Today an ultra-nationalist group attacked women at an International Women's Day event that the government banned. The police arrested the women and set the attackers free (the police and the nationalist groups work together to attack women, Chinese, etc.).
And now some Kyrgyz on Twitter are saying that tourists were arrested alongside the women. Good for these tourists for standing next to these women. But... be aware that being next to any public demonstration in Central Asia can get you detained, arrested or beaten by the police or by the criminals that work with the state security services to attack protesters.
All about Kyrgyzstan.
