World Nomad Games 2021

Some news about the 2021 World Nomad Games.

The venue has shifted to Bishkek, it is supposed to be held in September, and kabaddi will be added as a new sport.

I had to double check this wasn't an April Fool!

I like Kabaddi, but it's interesting to imagine what a Kyrgyz crowd will make of it! I saw the Kabaddi finals at the Asian Games when they were hosted in Guangzhou - most of the tickets were given away to local families with the mascot dancing during the intervals getting more interest than the Kabaddi matches...

So... the Erdogan hijacking of the Games hasn't happened?! That's great news! But I'm a bit sad that they're not holding them over in Cholpon-Ata (of course, Covid allowing).

I might plan a quick dash... mmmmh.

The offical world nomad games are postponed, but there was a big games on Aug 30th and 31st. Dead Goat Polo, Eagle Hunter Competition, Archery, a a parade with flags from different countries, etc. Good fun, but not as international as world nomad games
