I arrived in Bishkek early August and have tried many restaurants since then. However, I can only recommend 5 or 6 restaurants that I would love to visit them again. They are listed below:
- The address bar (Ramada hotel).
- Red Cow
- Arzu
- Aya Sofia
- Relax Coffee shop

Just adding some locations that haven't been mentioned already:

Central Asian cuisine:
  • Navat, a chain with 8 branches in Bishkek (2GIS): slightly more expensive than others with nice decor and facilities for families (play area, toilets, etc.), fully English menu available and some of the waiters speak passable English. They're also present in Osh, Almaty and Astana.
  • Mansur (OSM) is a local place near Alamedin bazar serving dishes that are both delicious and good value, try the borscht! Reservations recommended for groups larger than 5 people, reservations mandatory during Ramadan. No alcohol served.
  • Mubarak (OSM) is a centrally located tea house with long opening hours (used to be 24/7) and a range of dishes popular in the region. Can get crowded, especially during holidays. No alcohol served.
Notable foreign cuisine:
  • Sierra, cafe chain with 6 branches in Bishkek (2GIS), including one at the airport. Founded by a NZ-KG couple, you'll always find some other foreigners in the main branch at Manas Avenue where the waiters speak good English, the other locations are calmer, with English menus available everywhere. The combo meal (soup/salad/toast/beverage of your choice) is a good deal, same for some of the the all-day breakfasts.
  • Kyong Bok Gung (OSM) is an authentic Korean restaurant that wouldn't feel out of place anywhere on the Korean peninsula. Has nice BBQ and fish options, great value for groups of 3 and more, complementary party rooms available upon reservation. Right next to the restaurant is a small store selling products directly imported from South Korea.
  • Lanzhou Noodles (OSM) is one of the countless places selling Chinese food with a focus on noodle-based dishes from Gansu. Portions are big and filling so come hungry or with some friends, some dishes can be ordered as half-portions.
  • Furusato (OSM) is THE Japanese restaurant in town, if you ignore the wasabi paste you'd feel right in Japan. Upscale, reservations recommended for dinner time, although single customers without a reservation can usually get by with a counter seat.
  • Pechki-Lavochki (OSM) is a restaurant focusing on Russian cuisine located near GUM. Slightly upscale with a range of delicious dishes and drinks, has an indoor play area for kids.
