Kyrgyzstan seasons

Post by Johan »

Hi!

I was supposed to visit Kyrgyzstan as part of a bigger Mid-east / Central Asia trip this fall, arriving in Kyrgyztan in early October. Unfortunate events has forced me to delay the trip, arriving in Kyrgyzstan in late October, and I'm afraid I won't have the opportunity to enjoy the more mountainous areas (especially towards China) as well as some trekking. Does anyone have any tips regarding weather and possible areas to visit?

Thank you in advance
Johan

I think you can expect snow and freezing temperatures at night above 2000m from end of September. In late October, trekking season is over. Only if you are hardy and well-prepared.

Forgot to mention: as an alternative, you can go skiing (downhill, cross-country or heli-). Karakol and Arslanbob are 2 best places.
