Currency Exchange or ATM at Bishkek Airport?

Post by Traveller11 »

Hi Folks,

Can anyone advise me if there is a Currency Exchange Office or ATM (Taking preferably Mastercard) at Bishkek Airport?

We are travelling there on 3rd October, so hoping for a quick reply.

Thanks

I found the exchange rate at the airport to be terrible. 967RMB = 7688soms, lost more than 2000soms than what the exchange app was saying on my phone.

While there was only one ATM at Manas International Airport that took 'Master Card' I did not get to try it out as an Airport Employee seemed to be on a mission to extract cash with several cards which was proving difficult for him, so I went to the Currency Exchange Office where the Exchange Rate for Kyrg Som at Airport on USD was 66 Som for $1.

The Bank Rate for $1 USD was 68 Som, so not a bad rate of exchange.

As of today there's a whole row of machines on arrival level.
Several exchange bureaus too . Rate about 2 S below city rates for Euros and Yankee Dollar.

PS: while I'm in the Bishkek departure lounge: "duty free" here means 3-5 times of tax paid in town for fags and grog.
