Update as of 02/11

I arrived at Bishkek Western Bus Station to buy my ticket in advance, to be told by some locals that they are in the process of moving the station.

It does not appear any busses to Tashkent are running at the moment, not that the locals know of anyway.

If there is information to the contrary I would love to know as I’m a bit stuck in Bishkek otherwise haha

I don't have up-to-date information on that bus, but don't worry to get stuck. You can use a combination of marshrutki or shared taxis to go to Shymkent (maybe changing at Taraz too) and go to Tashkent from there. There is also a train to Shymkent, but only twice weekly. If all else fails, you could also go to Almaty and catch a train from there (but that would be a detour).

Yes, I went to the Western Bus Station to find it abandoned a few days ago. I was looking to travel to Almaty. Not everyone is yet aware of the change of location – my hotel receptionist had no idea. There's a news article here in English with info, including the new bus station location at Alma-Atinskaya Street, 1/1:

Once the receptionist saw this, she knew where it was and ordered a Yandex for me. Indeed, there is a new bus station at this location!
