Rtveli in Georgia

It is wine harvest time in Georgia, and we would like to participate in the festivities of Rtveli.

Does anybody know how we can organise it beside through tour operators? I really have the feeling they are overcharging and I expect the places to harvest a bit touristy.

Anybody recommendations for villages or families we can visit? We don't speak Georgian or Russian, and we don't have a car. We are quite flexibel, but would like to make it work in the next few weeks. Plan B is just taking a marshrutka to Telavi and swing it from there.
