Samarkand: Arriving in the early morning

Hi,

Does anyone know what Samarkand is like at 03:04 in the morning?. I'm thinking about arriving with the train at that time and would leave for Tashkent at the same day at 17:00

Will there be taxi at the train station?
Will anything be open ?
What would be a good way to spend the 12 hours I have there? What should I se and at what time?
Any and all advise is welcome

I arrived at about that time. There should be taxis, since you won't be the only person getting off. I walked, however, since there isn't much else to do at that time.

There were some cafes open on the boulevard near the station.

When I was there the Gur-e-Amir complex was illuminated all night long, as was the Registan. The guards at the Registan were eager to let me in if I gave them some money, so that's probably an option.

You can see the main sights pretty easily, as most things are between Gur-e-Amir and Shah-i-Zinda/Afrosiyab.

Very pleasant at night since the heat is low, absolutely safe, but nothing will be open except for the train station luggage room where yo ucan leave your bags.
